One of the nation's oldest African-American museums, this remarkable site chronicles the history of Africans and African-Americans both locally and globally. The museum has 11 permanent exhibits and several hands-on displays.

This dramatic, waterfront museum, designed by I.M. Pei, houses the greatest collection of rock and roll memorabilia in the US. Guests can browse interactive exhibits, archives, and materials from many songwriters, performers, producers, and disc jockeys who pioneered the predominantly American musical genre. Popular attractions at the shrine include rock-related films, Janis Joplin's Porsche, and handwritten lyrics by Jimi Hendrix.

DOWNTOWN. This former flagship of the Cleveland Cliffs Steamship Company is moored on Lake Erie along Voinovich Park. For 55 years, the 618-foot ship hauled millions of tons of iron, ore, grain, stone, and coal. Today, you can tour the crew's quarters, pilot's house engine room, and ship's cargo hold (now an interactive museum). Take time to observe the elegant dining area and the staterooms that housed the ship's owners and wealthy passengers.

Expressly founded to preserve the records and artifacts of Cleveland and the Western Reserve, this is the nation's largest, privately supported, regional historical society. On its grounds are two museums and a library boasting more than five million books. Permanent collections and traveling exhibits detail the history of the area and are a fantastic diversion for history buffs.
